LYRIC
TWO FINE PICTURES A youth's infatuation for a musical comedy actress, the method she employs to restore him to his fiancee, and the manner in which she wins over his father whom she had previously sought to compromise because he had closed her show, form the plot of “Powder My Back,” the delightful picture shown at the Lyric Theatre last evening. The leading role is taken by Irene Rich, who is supported by a cast which includes Audrey Ferris, Carrol Nye and Anders Randolf. The second big picture on the programme was of a unique style—a warning to girls against the Hollywood movie-star attraction, worked into quite an interesting drama. A well-known American blonde and divorcee, Peggy Hopkins Joyce, has picturesquely enough, been given the central role in this picture, which is entitled “The Sky Rocket.” In this film. Hollywood, dream city of a million girls, is revealed in ail its glitter and glory in a heart-stirring drama of a poor girl’s rise to stardom, of her dazzling career, of her pleasures and perils, and her final happiness with the man she loved.
