WINGATUI AGROUND

MISHAP TO ENGINES NOW BERTHED FOR REPAIRS Press Association DUNEDIN, Thursday. When leaving the harbour late on Wednesday night for way ports and Auckland the steamer Wingatui went aground at the entrance to Victoria Channel. This mishap was caused through her machinery being disabled, the main air pump breaking. The vessel was towed off at 11.30 a.m. to-day and was berthed for repairs. As the W r ingatui was lying fore and aft across the channel the fairway was blocked and the movements of shipping were disorganised until mid-day. The steamers Holmdale, Manuka, WaiPlata and Port Curtis all berthed at Duneuin several hours late.
