MEDIAEVAL CANTERBURY.—West gate, the imposing Norman entrance, which saw the comings and goings of Archbishops of Canterbury before the days of Thomas A’Beckett, and through which the new Primate of England, Dr. Cosmo Lang, passed on the way to his enthronment in Canterbury Cathedral. Canterbury has extended far beyond its ancient walls, and to-day these massive towers stand almost in the centre of the town.
