FINGER-PRINTS LEAD TO SALESMAN’S ARREST
SAFE WHICH VANISHED Press Association PALMERSTON N., To-day. During last week-end the premises of Mr. Christie, a tobacconist, of Ra ngitikei Street, were broken into and a safe containing a considerable sum of .money was removed, in addition to a large quantity of stockThis morning Detective Barling arrested James Morton McGill, aged 26, a motor-car salesman, of Dannevirke, who was charged with breaking and entering the premises and, removing a safe containing £44 in cash and £23 in cheques. Accused was remanded to December 14. Counsel applied for bail, which Senior-Detective Quirke opposed. The safe, he said, had not yet been traced. The principal evidence against accused at present is finger-prints found on the premises. Bail was refused.
