Neville, of Auckland, has left for a visit to Palmerston North and Wellington. Mrs. W. J. Napier, Mrs. E. Napier and Mrs. L. of Auckland, are visiting Hamilton. * Mrs. Reg. Haszard, who recently returned from Chile, is in Auckland and is staying at Royal Court. Mrs. M. Gilbert, of Christchurch, is spending a holiday in Auckland and is the guest of Mrs. Nilsson, Stanley Point. Mr. and Mrs. J. Quinn, of Wellington, and Mr. and Mrs. H. S. S. Kyle, of Riccarton, are staying at the Star Hotel. Staying at the Grand are Mr. and Mrs. E. Scannell, of Hastings; Mr. and Mrs. A. Wall, of Wellington; and Miss M. Rolleston. of Sydney I .' Mr. and Mrs. H. Cliff, of Paparoa, Mr. and Mrs. G. Vosper, and Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Allen, of Cambridge, are staying at the Albert Hotel. At the Central are Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Taylor, of Christchurch; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Francis, of Putaruru; and Dr. and Mrs. Carrington Mail, of Apia, Samoa. >'fi * Mrs. A. L. Foster, of Remue.ra Road, who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. S. S. Allen, wife of the Administrator of Samoa, returned to Auckland yesterday by the Tofua. * * * Mrs. Bernard Wood and her children, of Christchurch, are in Heretaunga, where they will spend the summer months. Dr. and Mrs. Gabites, of Auckland, have taken Mrs. Wood’s house at Christchurch for a term. * * * Her Excellency Lady Alice Fergusson has been paying her customary visit to philanthropic and other institutions in Wellington. On Thursday morning she visited the Home of Compassion, where his Excellency Sir Charles Fergusson accompanied her. Their Excellencies went all over the home and greeted the children, one and all. On Thursday afternoon Lady Alice Fergusson visited the Borstal Institution at Point Plalswell, where she was received by the matron and Dr. PlattsMills, chairman of the Borstal Committee, and Mrs. Dallard. An entertainment was given by the girls and afterwards tea, for which cakes and scones had been made by the girls, was served. Her Excellency talked with a number of the inmates. On Saturday afternoon her Excellency journeyed to Featherston, where she opened a fete at Fernside, held in aid of St. John’s • Church, Featherston.
