DOMINION TITLES
CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING ENTRIES CLOSE DECEMBER 14 Entries for the New Zealand championship meeting, to be held at Stanley Street courts, beginning on Boxing Lay, close on Friday, December 14, with the secretary, Mr. L. Murray Ivean, Wellington. This is the 39th meeting to decide the Dominion title. There are 11 events on the programme, including men’s and women’s singles and doubles, mixed doubles, boys’ and girls’ singles, doubles and mixed, and also the N.Z.L.T.A. Plate for players put out in the first two rounds of the men’s singles. Unless there is a minimum of eight entries in the junior singles and four pairs in the junior doubles, there will be no contest in these events, which are open to boys and girls under 18 years of age at the date of closing. The draw for all events except the Plate will be made at the office of the secretary on Monday, December 17, at S p.m. The draw for the Plate will be made on the ground after the completion of the second round of the singles, when the entries for this event will close. The holders of the Dominion titles at present are:—Men’s singles, Geof Ollivier, Christchurch (retired); women’s singles, Miss May Speirs, Christchurch; men’s doubles, Bartleet and Laurenson, Auckland; women’s doubles, Mrs. Adams and Miss Tracy, Wellington; mixed doubles, Wilson and Miss Tracy, 'Wellington; Plate, C. Angas, Christchurch; boys’ singles, H. A. Barnett, Christchurch; girls’ singles, Nancy Fleming, Otago. Junior doubles events are an innovation this year. The meeting is expected to last for six days.
