Bits and Pieces

Frocks that Look Untidy

It is a season of bits and pieces. The best designers put as few as possible, but there are others who have succumbed to the concentration on detail and have floating ends, flower trails set at the waistline, loose floating effects at the shoulders, immense bows of tulle that drop from short skirts to the ground, and any number of other troublesome additions that are bound to get untidy looking after a few wears. It remains to be seen how many of the untidy frocks will be chosen. At the first dress show the preference seemed to be for the quieter styles, which showed evening clothes gener-

ally longer, and day clothes richer in material, but net too ornate in design. Small cravats in ermine are made fqr wear with frocks in black ring velvet. These are separate, and there are a number of other separate small accessories which will be troubles to the smartly-gowned, who will have to remember to put them on that their ensemble will be complete. In evening frocks, too, there are accessory scarves again this year mado of the material. Some of the lace frocks have scarves of lace, and chiffon frocks fiave scarves that float down the back of iheir own chiffon.
