All inquiries will be welcomed, as they are usually of general interest. “Soldier”: In asking: my advice about painting your house you have forgotten to mention what colour it now is. This is most important, because it is already cream you will have to us© only two coats. Should it be some such darker colour as brown, three coats are required. The worst thing you can do is to buy cheap paint. Four gallons of any reputable cream paint and about a quarter of a gallon of brown is what yt % require, and would cost you about £4 10s. Thin out th© paint you are going- to use with half a gallon of “thinners,” which you can buy at any paint shop. Should the paint at present on th© house be sufficiently powdery to rub off it would be advisable to give the walls a good brush down before starting work. Your boiled oil is no use on wooj?, but you can make use of it for painting the roof, if yours is an iron roof. Boiled oil can be used on any metal.
