The Mayor of Newmarket, Mr. S. Donaldson, has received a telegram j from the board saying that the proposal might be reviewed again later and included in a general townplanning undertaking. The proposal, which was only part of a much larger scheme, included the building of a new street and the closing of Bourke Street. The whole scheme to have cost about £14,000 but of this sum £II,OOO would probably have been derived from the sale of Bourke Street.
