FUNDS FOR SPORTS GROUNDS The Birkenhead School Committee held y 8 meeting last evening, Mr. J. McDonald presiding - . G. Menzies, headmaster, reported that the school concert on October 11 to raise funds for the sports ground, realised £2O 3s 3d. The roll tor the month was 368, an increase of erf 337 Wltll a average attendance A letter was received from the Education Board stating that the board has authored the appointment of Mr. O. C. M. Stephenson as an assistant master at the Birkenhead School. After the school business had finished the committee met the women members of the carnival committee. The treasurer, Mr. Clark, reported that with the donations and takings on Saturday afternoon a total of £SO had been received, the expenses totalling about £ls, which left a balance of £35. This was regarded as very satisfactory considering the bad weather experienced. Owning to it being wet last Saturday it was reported that a large number of the children in fancy dress did not attend the carnival, so it was decided to hold a children’s fancy-dress ball in the R.A.0.8.
