PROMISES FULFILLED
REFORM’S MANIFESTO MR. SAMUEL’S CONTENTION (■Special to THE SUE) PAEROA, Monday. The manifesto issued by the Reform Party at the last election was traversed by Mr. A. M. Samuel, Reform candidate for Thames, at a meeting here on Saturday evening. A crowded audience attended and gave an enthusiastic reception to Mr. Samuel. The candidate claimed that practically all the promises made in the manifesto had been fulfilled. Later Mr. Samuel replied to the allegations against the Government made by the United Party candidate, Mr. E. McGregor, who at a recent meeting had said that since the Coates Government had taken office nothing had been spent in assisting mining. Other statements made by Mr. McGregor were answered by Mr. Samuel, who was applauded for his replies. Mr. Samuel said he had on no occasion given promises which had not been fulfilled. At the conclusion a vote of thanks and confidence was accorded Mr. Samuel, amid great enthusiasm.
