BAND’S SEARCH FOR QUARTERS

Since its formation about five years ago, the Takapuna Municipal Band has had no fixed place where members could assemble for practice or social purposes. During the past fortnight. Mr. A. Slinger, engineer to the Takapuna Borough Council, and also a vice-pre-sident of the band, in conjunction with Mr. Alex. Harris, M.P., have been in negotiation with the Minister of Defence. The proposition was to purchase a military hutment, such as were used in tho permanent camps during the war, and to re-erect it upon one of the public reserves in Takapuna. Advice has now been received from the Minister by Mr. Harris that the department has no hutments for sale.
