PARIS EXHIBITION
N.Z. TO BE REPRESENTED COMMITTEE APPOINTED One of the finest exhibitions which have yet taken place in Europe will be held at Vincennes, near Paris, in 1931 and will remain open for six months. Marshal Lyautey, formerly GovernorGeneral of Morocco, has been appointed by the French Government General Commissioner of the Exhibition. As the New-Zealand Government has decided to take part in the Antwerp Exhibition in 1930, it is probable that it will also exhibit in Paris, a year later. Statistics show that in 1927 France bought £1,008,291 worth of goods in New Zealand, and is therefore the sixth best client of this Dominion, after the United Kingdom, the United States of America. Australia, Canada, etc. On the other hand. French sales in New Zealand during the same period, amounted to £891.277, mostly manufactured goods. In 1927 Belgium bought New Zealand products to the value of £162.893 and its sales in this Dominion amounted to £399,763. Apart from direct transactions with New Zealand. France as well as Belgium buys a certain quantity of New Zealand products (wool, cows and rabbit skins, kauri gum, etc.), on the English markets. It is estimated especially, that 30.000 bales of wool are thus sent from London every year to the small manufacturers of RoubaixTourcoing. On Marshal Lyautey’s instructions, a local committee has been set up in New Zealand for purposes of publicity, information and documentation. In connection with the Paris Exhibition.
