WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
HENDERSON BRANCH During the week the members of the Henderson Women’s Institute held their monthly meeting in the Foresters’ Hall, the president, Mrs. Dorman, occupying the chair. Among the business items discussed was the project of forming a sinking fund so that members would have a definite object to work for, but any decision on the subject was postponed till the December meeting, when the balance sheet will be available, and something definite can be decided upon. Members were reminded that the school is in urgent need of funds, and that at the annual rose show, to be held on the -2nd inst., individuals will have a chance to assist the school committee to raise money by gifts to J>e sold at the various stalls for the benefit of the school. The institute has decid€*d, as a body, to present »ix prizes for sewing done in school and shown at the rose show, and it is believed that the competition will be keen and some of the work good. A demonstration in suede leather work was given by Mrs. Skipwith, and Proved botli interesting and instructive. After the demonstrator had been accorded a hearty vote of thanks the hostesses. Mesdames Carey and Leigh - ion, handed round tea. Community singing ended a pleasant afternoon.
