Jasper Calder's mission, Sister Esther’s work, the Ladies’ Benevolent Society, the Down and Out Mission, the Parnell Doss House and the’St. Vincent de Paul Society have all received assistance from the club, and the committee of 25,' which manages its affairs, has also sent gifts to many other needy cases. Great interest is also taken by the club In the happiness of children in orphanages, and the union has made itself responsible, for the last six years, for Christmas gifts and entertainments for them. Each of the 15 orphanages near Auckland Is visited by the entertainment party and the club expects to spend from £250 to £3OO this year on the children. In all this work the late Mr. J. H.
