LABOUR AND COMMUNISM
MR. YARNALL EXPLAINS MEETING AT PARNELL The attitude of the New Zealand Labour Party toward the communist movement was explained to the electors of Parnell last evening, when Mr. J. Yarnall, Labour candidate, spoke to 120 electors in the Parnell Library. Mr. G. G. Grant presided. The Labour Party, he said, had recently refused an official overture by the Communist movement to assist Labour in its fight for public favour at the elections. Labour’s objectives, and its methods of attaining them were outlined in the platform of‘the party published recently, which did not square with the aims of Communism. Mr. Y'arnall criticised the administrative record of the Government, and attacked its handling of State problems —particularly immigration, unemployment and finance. He was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence.
