ASLEEP AT WHEEL
MOTORIST’S DEATH STORY FROM WHEEL-TRACKS Press Association NAPIER, Tuesday. An inquest was held this morning before Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M., into the death of John Emerson Pickering, aged 23,. who died in the hospital on Monday morning as the result of injuries received in a motor accident some days previously. The deceased was found unconscious in the middle of the road between Napier and Hastings at 3.30 o’clock one morning. His car was capsized on the wrong side of the road. It is assumed from the wheel marks that Pickering momentarily dozed and awoke to find the car going off the lefthand side of the road. The deceased then probably pulled the wheel sharply round with the result that the car skidded and rolled over sideways. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
