FARCICAL FOOTBALL
Sir, In my opinion the Auckland Rugby League should be prosecuted under the Crimes Act for taking money for the representative match on Saturday between Auckland and Otago. rt was a case of false pretences—quite unintentional, of course, but real in actual fact. The League must have known quite well that Otago could not be expected to do any better than the lamentable team from Canterbury some weeks ago, and yet it fielded a combination of talent against an immature team from Dunedin. As a consequence, the game was a farce. Hundreds of spectators went home at half-time, overwhelmed with boredom. The final score was 42 to 22 in favour of Auckland. It might well have been 100 to a great deal less than 22. Hiad the League desired to give spectators a contest worth looking at, it would have selected a team of colts to represent Auckland. Such matches as those against Otago and Canterbury will not do the game any good. ONLOOKER.
