AORANGI ' FOR SYDNEY.—The local office of the Union Company advises that the R.M.M.S. Aorangi is due at Auckland on Sunday, September 9, from Vancouver, via way ports, and leaves again at 2 p.m. to following day for Sydney. * TOFU A AT SUVA.—The local office of the Union Company has been advised that the Island passenger steamer Tofua arrived at Suva this morning from Apia, Samoa, and leaves again at 4 p.m. tomorrow for Auckland, where she is expected to arrive next Monday morning. SYDNEY STEAMERS.—The Maheno leaves Auckland at 11 a.m. on Friday for Sydney and the Marama from Wellington at 3 p.m. the same day. The Ulimaroa leaves Sydney at noon on Friday for Auckland. All the three vessels are due at their arrival ports next Tuesday morning. MAH AN A AT NAPIER.—Now loading at Napier, the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Mahana later proceeds to Waikokopu and Auckland to complete. She is due here on September 5, and is scheduled to sail finally from this port on September S for London, via Montevideo and Teneriffe. CARGO FROM PACIFIC COAST.— Due at Auckland on September 12 from the Pacific Coast ports via Papeete, the local office of the Union Company advises that the trans-Pacific car |o steamer Wairuna ’later proceeds to Xapier, thence Lyttelton, Dunedin and New Plymouth, to complete her discharge.

FLAT ROCK LIGHT RELIGHTED. — The Marine Department advises that Flat Rock light, which has been out of order for some days, has been relighted by the Tutanekai. KAITUNA CLEARS NOUMEA. —En route from Walpole Island, the local office of the Union Company has been advised that the steamer Kaituna left Noumea at 1 p.m. last Monday for Auckland, where she is due on Saturday. WA I PORI MARU IN STREAM.—The Japanese steamer Waipori Maru anchored in the stream this morning preparatory to resuming her voyage to Newcastle. Messrs. Watkin and YVallis advise that she is awaiting instructions. OTOKIA REPORTS.—The tanker Otokia, bound from San Luis to Wellington, has reported by .wireless that she expects to arrive in the stream at 2 a.m. to-morrow. The vessel brings fuel oil for discharge into the Union Company’s tanks at Miramar. NORFOLK AT LONDON.—The New Zealand Shipping Company has received cabled news that the Federal steamer Norfolk arrived at London last Friday* from Auckland, en route to West Coast ports of Great Britain. The vessel left Auckland gn July 17. PANAMA CANAL TRANSITS.—In March 542 commercial vessels '•transited” the Panama Canal, paying toils amounting to 2,223,370 dollars. The average amount of tolls paid by each of the vessels was 4,102.10 dollars, as compared with 4,120.21 dollars in February. COPENHAGEN TO SAIL. The steamer Copenhagen is to sail for Lyttelton and Wanganui to-morrow morning to complete unloading sulphur from Texas. From Wanganui the vessel will go to Westport for bunkers, and then to Nauru Island to load phosphates. PORT HU ON SAILING. —The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Company advises that the C. and D. Line’s motor-ship Port Huon, now completing her loading at Auckland, sails at 10 o’clock this evening for New York, Boston, and London, via Panama and Cristobal. MAURETANIA’S RECORD. —The Cunard liner Mauretania reached New York on July 19 after making the world’s record passage from Cherbourg in five days three hours and 17 minutes. The average speed was 25.63 knots. The previous world’s record for the same run was also made by the Mauretania. HATKHOLA FROM THE EAST.— Running under the auspices of the Union Company the steamer Hatkhola is reported to have sailed from Singapore last Sunday with cargo from Eastern ports for discharge at Sydney, Auckland and Wellington. She is expected at Auckland about September 19. PORT HUNTER LEAVES NEW YORK. —A cable message to the C. and D. Line advises that the Port Hunter sailed from New York on Friday with general cargo to discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. The vessel is due at Auckland on September 24, and the Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Company will act as 4he local agents. PORT BOWEN DELAYED.—The C. and D. Line reports that the Port Bowen was delayed in loading at Gisborne owing to rain, and left there last night for Wanganui roadstead and Wellington. The vessel is due at Wellington on Sunday and will sail finally from there early next week for London, Avonmouth, Glasgow and Liverpool. ANTI NOUS REPORTS. —Wireless advice from the steamer Antinous states she will arrive from Tampico, Mexico, at five o’clock this evening. The vessel has a full cargo of asphalt, and will unload a quantity at Western Wharf and the remainder at New Plymouth, Wellington, Timaru and Bluff. Messrs. R. Millar and Company are the local agents. DRIFTING BUOY SIGHTED. The superintendent of mei’cantile marine reports the master of the steamer Kaitoke passed a red spherical buoy in good order, clean, with no marine growth visible, at 5 p.m. jn August 23. The buoy is about 4ft in diameter. It was bearing, when passed, as follows:—Flat Point 297 degrees, distant 13 miles, and a fresh north-west gale was blowing at the time. REMUERA AT BLUFF.—The liner Remuera arrived at Bluff yesterday from Auckland to continue her loading for Home. She later proceeds to Port Chalmers, thence Lyttelton, Wellington and Auckland to complete. The local office of the N.Z. Shipping Company advises that the Remuera returns here on September 10 and is scheduled to clear Auckland finally on September 15 for Southampton and London, via Panama. T^ E G £ L M<? LOADING. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advises that the Gallic, after part loading at Bluff, left there on Monday evening for Port Chalmers, Lyttelton, New Plymouth Wanganui and Welington. The vessel is due at Wellington on September 6, and will leave here on September 7 for Napier, Gisborne and Auckland. The Gallic will sail finally from Auckland on September 19 for Cristobal, New York, Boston, Halfax and West Coast ports of Great Britain. TREVORIAN IN PORT.—An arrival in the stream at Auckland yesterday afternoon was the Hain Line steamer Trevorian from New York. The vessel berthed at Prince’s Wharf to commence the discharge of her cargo of case oil arid general merchandise. She sailed from New York on July 22, and cleared Panama on July 31, and is running under the auspices of the A. and A. Line Eastern Service. Captain F. McEwan is in command, and the following are the officers:— Chief, Mr. E. G. Old; second, Mr. W. T. Harris; third, Mr. R. T. Williams; chief engineer, Mr. J. M. Blair; second, Mr. C'. A. Powell; third, Mr. F. S. Readshaw; fourth, Mr. H. Cutcliffe; wireless operator. Mr. F. G. Owen. The local office of the New Zealand bluppmg Company advises that it hopes to dispatch the Treyorian from Auckland at j p.m. on Friday for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete the discharge of her cargo.
