PLAZA
COLLEEN MOORE TO-MORROW In a picture decidedly different from anything in which she has appeared in the past, Colleen Moore, winsome First National star, comes to the Plaza Theatre to-mororw in her latest starring picture, “Happiness Ahead.” Although this production provides her with every opportunity to display her excellent flair for comedy, Miss Moore will also be seen in moments of deep drama, in which she is said to have proven an unusualy capable actress. “Happiness Ahead” is the story of a little country girl who marries a city card-sharp, believing him to be an entirely honest young business man. The manner in which she discovers the truth, and the subsequent action of the principal characters, gives “Happiness Ahead” a plot which is unique in the extreme. Edmund Lowe plays the chief supporting role in “Happiness Ahead,” which was written by Edmund Goulding. Other members of the supporting cast are Lilyan Tashman, Edythe Chapman, Charles Sellon, Robert Elliott and Virginia Sale.
The “Pun s\i Bowl” Revue Company, a combination of star performers from London and now touring the world will appear at the Plaza to-morrow. They are presented by Rex Mack, himself a musical comedy star, and a baritone of no mean ability, who was producer and juvenile lead for Arthur Broadfoot’s 1926-27 Revues in London and the provinces. Other artists are Linda Dale, dashing soubrette; Frank Moran, the Minister of Mirth and 6ft 6in of laughter, and Richard Denny, entertainer.
CAPITOL SHOWS “METROPOLIS” The stupendous picture, "Metropolis,” depicting a city of a 100 years hence, will be shown at the Capitol Theatre again this evening. “Metropolis” is the far-sighted vision of a hundred years from now by a man who looks into to-morrow instead of to-day, and visualises a city towering to the skies, controlled by one man, who has perfected all the scientific inventions which to-day are merely in their infancy, and used them for his own purpose. “The Rawhide Kid” will be the second attraction. This is a Peter B. Kyne story in which the leading role is taken by Hoot Gibson.
