ELECTION OF TOWN BOARDS
POSITION OF NEW LYIW On Wednesday, September 19, the biennial elections of members of town boards will be held. Nominations now being called for the vacant positions. In most cases the nomination? will close toward the end of the firtf week in September. The districts in the vicinity of the city which are governed by town boards are New Lynn, Henderson Glen Eden, Elierslie, Howick, Papitortoe, Manurewa and Papakura. Lynn, which is the largest, recent 1 } petitioned to be constituted a borouft and representations have been placed before a commission, whose finding will come before the Minister of Internal Affairs. If the status of New Lynn is raised to that of a borough it is consider** that it will be brought about on AprL 1 of next year, and New Lynn willb* included in the borough elections
which are held on the third Wednesday in April. Seven members constitute the board at present, but in the event of-New Lynn becoming a borough there will probably be nl»* councillors.
