SHIPPERS GRAB CHANCE OF CHEAPER FREIGHTS
LOADED TO GUNWALES, SHIPS LEAVE CANADA FOR NEW ZEALAND (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association) Reed. 9.5 a.m. MONTREAL. Tuesday. Shippers have taken quick advantage of the cut cargo rates from Montreal to New Zealand, and the Canadian National Steamships have been obliged to add two freighters to carry the overflow of cargo. On Saturday the regular line ships of both the Canadian line and the New Zealand Shipping Company left loaded to the gunwales. Neither the New Zealand or the Canadian National Company is prepared to give way but both state that they are ready for a conference.
