The weather was mild for training operations this morning, and the inside of the trial grass track provided exceptionally fast going. It was used by a number of trainers, but work on it was chiefly confined to short sprints. First Sight sprinted half a mile in 50, Bon Raid following in 50 2-5, and Overdrawn covered a mile in 1.45. Brigadier Bill and Kilburn ran half a mile in 50 3-5, while Royal Damon occupied 51 2-5 without being bustled, and Black Mint and Miss Winkle did half a mile in 49 4-5. The Best Half Rotor and Sarnia were going easily at the end of half a mile in 52 2-5, and Panther and Decoy Bird were responsible for half a mile in 49. Quincoma and Matu ran five furlongs in 1.6 3-5, Kaiti half a mile in 51 2-5, and Membo and Antrim Boy registered 51. Oriflamb jumped two hurdles satisfactorily. Lady Gay and Kilmiss took 1.18 for six furlongs, while Despot and Crossbo were together at the end of five in 1.5. Historic sprinted half a mile alone in 49 4-5, and Volant just beat Royal Saxon, with Radiant Knight over a length away, after doing five furlongs in 1.5 2-5. Royal Saxon was going well at the finish. Nine of Spades beat Zuexis over half a mile in 50 3-5, while Boy beat Teri in 50 2-5. Nincompoop and Amorist sprinted half a mile smartly' in 49 2-5, while Solfello and Beaming ran over the same ground in 50 1-5. Rangiawhio jumped three hurdles well. Piccaninny' started with him, but after hitting two fell at the third. On being remounted she jumped the fourth alone.
