LABOUR IN KAIPARA
OPPOSING MR. COATES COMMITTEES WORKING HARD The campaign which Labour has instituted against the Prime Minister in his own electorate —Kaipara—has been commenced by the candidate, Mr. J. G. Barclay, whose committee has organised meetings throughout the district. Mr. Coates’s committee, also, is busy to secure the Prime Minister’s return. ; It is not expected that Mr. Coates will address any meetings in the electorate during the coming campaign, as at a number of meetings throughout the district during the early part of * the year, he was given an assurance that it would not be necessary and that he would be allowed to devote his time elsewhere. SUBURBS SEAT ■: REFORM ORGANISATION J A meeting of 26 delegates representing 12 branches of the Reform League [ met last evening and formed an eleci torate executive for Auckland suburbs r Mr. G. R. Hutchinson was elected president, and Mr. A. R. Leighton and 3 Mr. W. H. Shepherd vice-presidents. Mr. P. Turner was appointed secretary ’ r and treasurer. Mr. Leighton and Mr. t C. Gardner were appointed delegates ; to the Auckland divisional executive. Some discussion took place as to the i centre for holding meetings, Auckland i being selected. It was decided to form 5 branches at New Lynn, Huia and Avondale Flats. The electorate executive is for organisation purposes, and fixes the date and place for holding ballots, if necessary, for the selection of the official candidate. At present there are four aspirants for the party nomination for Auckland Suburbs. AUCKLAND EAST MRS. MAGUIRE’S CAMPAIGN The campaign of Mrs. C. E.
