The English F.A. Trophy, over which controversy is raging in Soccer circles. Last season, Auckland and Canterbury tied with two wins and a draw each, Auckland holding a big advantage on the English League method of calculating goal averages in the event of a tie on points. The New Zealand F.A.’s decision award the trophy to the winner of the Canterbury-Wellington match at Wellington this season has aroused strong criticism in Auckland, in view of the fact that Auckland has never lost a match for the trophy.
