MRS. PORTER PRESIDES For the second time this season a woman member has occupied the chair at a I'hilistine revel. Mrs. Nello Porter toolf the role of “chairman” on £3aturday night, when she presented a varied and unusual programme of items l'or the entertainment of a record number of members and friends. In picturesque native attire, Mrs. Harold King appeared and sang t%vo original Maori songs, the composition of Mrs. Maewa Kaihau. Miss Etta Field’s rendering of “Sylven” and “Berceuse” was heartily encored and she responded with Tosti’s ! “Italian Love Song.” Mr. Ernest ■ Snell’s items were also enthusiastically » received, and he was recalled twice. • A very popular item was provided i by the Snappy Three, who sang several •* well-known melodies. Miss Hilda j Hardley was heard in two amusing ; sketches, "“Taking a Flat” and “Mrs. - Harris Flies to Paris.” Mrs. Kenny s songs, “My Hear Soul,” 11 and “Coronach/’ were pleasantly sung i | and were accompanied by Mrs. Her- - bert Bloy, who also acted as accompanist for Mr. Ron Muston’s violin solos. Mrs. F. J. Hutchinson and Miss Joy Porter also played accompani- ! ments for the artist. An original ! melodrama, “The Busy Woman’s Dilemma,” written by Mrs. Nello Porter, was presented by Mrs. Scantlebur\ . Miss Anita Webster. Messrs. Jack Gordon, Don Plummer and Geo. Moody.
