“MAN, WOMAN AND SON” A drama of love and newspaper life, with John Gilbert in his greatest modern role is “Man, Woman and Son,” which will be shown to-night at the Lyric Theatre. Gilbert plays a newspaper reporter in the new picture, with Miss Eagels as a society editor on a metropolitan newspaper. The locale' is Washington, where much of the picture was filmed. Marc McDermott, Gladys Brockwell, Cosmo Kyrle Bellew, and others of note are in the cast.
The second attraction, “Honour Bound,” stars George O’Brien. It is the story of John Ogletree who has been sent to prison through the treachery of a woman. He is embittered with life and is fighting through unaided. The reason for his sudden transfer to the coal mines is revealed when he finds that Evelyn, his former sweetheart, is now the wife of Paul Mortimer, the coal baron. Seeking to win back Ogletree she has him appointed her chauffeur.
Estelle Taylor, who shares honours with O’Brien, gives an inspiring and difficult performance in the role of the woman who loved and lost through her own folly. In the dramatic climax Miss Taylor wrings sympathy from the audience as the woman who repents and risks all to save the man she loves for another woman.
