PAKURANGA HUNT
LONG RUNS EXPERIENCED One of the most enjoyable davs vet i experienced by the followers of the Pakuranga Hunt was held on Saturj day. when a large following of hunts- : men, met on the Papatoetoe-Howick | Road. I A number of long runs were enjoved, the first run resulting in a kill. * In I the second throw-off the hounds made i a successful draw in Mr. W. Guy’s farm, and the hare led the pack I through the properties of -Messrs. E. Woods and B. Speechley, when it cir- ! cled back through Mr. Guy’s on to Mr. N. Gillard’s and through Messrs. R. Hattawav’s and O. Phillips’s, to Mr. Somerville’s, where it found shelter in a clump of furze. A draw was made on the last-named property, and the quarry started off on what resulted in the longest run of the seasop. Crossing over the properties of a dozen owners, the hare found shelter on the hills at the back of Howick, after travelling in a circular route. The chief obstacles met on the various runs consisted of wire fences, and were the cause of several spills, the lady riders being the principal sufferers. Some of the take-offs were very wet. and an extra large following of the huntsmen was seen keeping to the roads.
