r first intimation the public got of the result ot the fight wa.v when the hoisting of the Stars and Stripes cn the tower of the SUN buildings signalled a victory for Tunn The announcer at IVA was on the look-out for the flag and was able to tell listeners-in all over the province that the battle had gone against Heeney. The transmission of the news was a triumph for ihe efficiency and reliability of the cable service over the radio. From various causes, dealt with elsewhere, the wireless eftori was a wash-out; but from the entry of the combatants into the ring the story was ticked over the cables round after round till the complete account of the fight was finished at 3.30 p m The only interruption was at 2.5 p.m. to announce the decision. Several editions of THE SUN were published during the afternoon, and as soon as the whole narrative was available a "Fight Extra” was published at about 3.40 p.m. and a great rush set in for the paper, the total issue exceeding 32.000. It was handled expeditiously by our publishing staff with the result that THE SUN was "First with the news" all over the city and ■
