GIRL GUIDES’ BAZAAR
FUNCTION AT PAPAKURA The Papakura company of Girl Guides held a very successful combined concert and sale of work on Tuesday evening in the Methodist Hall, Papakura. Despite bad weather, there was a large attendance. The funds of the company will benefit to the extent of nearly £2O. The stalls were conducted by the following:—Fancy, Mrs. W. A. Pavitt; produce, Mrs. J. T. Widdowson; sweets, Mrs. C. D. Earl; and refreshments, Mrs. C. Garlick. Each stallholder was assisted by the guides. Numerous side-shows afforded ample opportunity for much amusement. Items were given by the following: —Pianoforte solos, Miss N. Mclnnes and Miss K. Platt; pianoforte duet, Mrs. G. Aitcheson and Miss K. Platt; solo, Miss E. Boagey; Irish jig and skipping dance, Miss Barbara Earl; humorous dialogues, entitled “Accidents Will Happen” and “Aunt Matilda Comes to Stay,” were also given*, and a song by junior guides, entitled “Dolls for Sale.” An especially good performance was the scarf drill by 16 Girl Guides. As a mark of appreciation of the work of Mrs. G. Aitcheson, who helped the company as pianiste during their practices and prepared them for th© concert, a Doulton fruit dish was presented to her from the company.
