CHEQUE FRAUDS
PRISONER REMANDED FOR SENTENCE Leonard James Monk pleaded guilty at the Police Court yesterday on seven charges of obtaining money by valueless cheques. The sums involved totalled over £25. Chief-Detective Hammond said that Monk would send a boy to a shop to buy a small article, paying with one of the bogus cheques. In other cases tho prisoner had bought things and paid the account by means of a cheque. Mr. R. A. Singer, who appeared for Monk, said that £4 restitution had
been made this morning and that, if a remand were granted for a week there was a good prospect of further restitution being made. He would not ask for bail.
