MUNICIPAL CONCERT

A VARIED PROGRAMME Items by the Municipal Band, int*rspersed by vocal numbers, comprised the programme offered at the munfc - pal concert given at the Town Hti. last evening. There wfis a good attendance of the public, and a first ekes entertainment was provided. The band programme, which was of a lighter nature than usual, contained several light operatic selections, a class of music always in demand Particularly pleasing was Clutsana* “Lilac Time,” a clever arrangement et Schubert’s most pleasing melodie? the overture from “Mignon” and tt? “Student Prince” selections. Other welcom© contributions were “The Blue Danube,” by Strauss Lehar’s “Blue Mazurka,” and “The 01c Grey Mare,” by Panella. A com duet, “Ida and Dot,” played by Messrs Fred Bowes and R. T. Morgan, and k xylophone solo, “Tarantelle,” by Mr. R. Jackson, were well received. In a contralto solo. “Meadowsweet (Brahe), Miss Maida Davidson create an excellent impression, Mr. Roy Stephenson also giving pleasure with * fine interpretation of “The’Two Grenadiers” (Schumann). The Minste: Singers, a combination comprise Misses Gladys Hosking and Mug* Davidson, and Messrs. A. L. Macpberson and Roy Stephenson, also protiW two popular* contributions with tbt quartettes, *Dusk of Dreams” (Ma: tin) and “Here’s a Paradox for Lo' ers” (German). Two recall number “Turn ye to Me” and “An Evenißf Pastorale,” were also given. MlDaisy Hislop was an artistic accec.paniste.
