ACCIDENT AT SPORTS CLAIM FOR DAMAGES Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. In the Magistrate’s Court at Cheviot yesterday John Collins, a farmer of Port Robinson, claimed from Arthur Joseph, a clerk of Christchurch, damages amounting to £l3l for injuries received when he was struck by a 16pound hammer thrown by Joseph during the Cheviot sports on December 18, 1926. Collins was struck on the shoulder and his collarbone was broken. The claim was made on the ground of negligence. Mr. E. Winskill, president of the club, and Mr. J. Y. Moir, steward of the hammer-throwing event, were joined as defendants. After hearing evidence judgment was reserved.
