National Insurances Reach 16/THE market for the week on ’Change opened in good tone this morning. A representative volume of business was recorded.

Banks remain in good tone, but there is little movement in the market, ajid business in ti is section is negligible. In insurances, Nationals have improved to see business at 16s. Sellers now ask 16s 2d, with buyers in at 15s 9d. New Zealands, with sellers at 42s 9d, supported by buyers at 42s 6d, are also slightly firmerAuckland Gas continues to command attention on a market steady at 23s 3d. A small parcel was dealt with in the calUroom at that figure this morning. Kauri Timbers eased slightly this morning, sellers at 19s 5d finding buyers 3d below last week’s closing offer of 19s.

Gear Meat registers an upward tendency, buyers improving to 38s 9d, with sellers asking 39s 6d. National Pictures were dealt with outside the call-room at 13s. In mining, Waihis "were active at 11s 9d, with more wanted at that figure at mid-day. Business at mid-day.—On ’Change: Auckland Gas, 23s 3d. Reported: Hud-dart-Parker, 48s 6d; National Pictures, 13s.
