GOOD POTATO PRICES ONIONS AND SEED QUIET Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. There has been less business done this week than last, but potatoes are still bringing good prices. As much as £6 5s f.0.b., s.i., has been paid for June delivery, this figure being also paid for July delivery, and £6 10s for July-August-Sep-tember. This time last week the f.o.b. s.i. price for June delivery was £5 15s. The price paid to farmers on trucks is up to £5, but for Dakotas as much as £6 is being paid, owing to a demand for this class of tuber setting in from Wellington. The Waipiata left for Auckland to-day with a fair quantity of potatoes aboard. The following quantities of potatoes were dispatched from Lyttelton for the North for the week ended on June 16:—Auckland, 1,163 (total since beginning of season, 67,335 sacks); Wellington, 3,647 (29,517); Napier and Gisborne, 3,159 (10,073); west coast of North Island, 1,654 (22,659); west coast of South Island. 1,897 (5,533). Onions are quieter at present, probably because of the arrival of a Victorian shipment at Wellington. Some parcels of wheat have changed hands during the week, 5s 6d being paid for second quality and 5s Sd for best. Oats ax*e slightly firmer, A grade Gartons being worth Is 2d f.o.b. s.i. and B grade 3s 9d. The Rimutaka is taking a quantity for London and a further lot will be shipped by the Tainui next week from Bluff.

Business in seeds has been quiet during the week, with no particular movement in any line, and last week’s figures will hold good in most cases. There has been an advance in chewings fescue, owing to America having come into the market and purchased large quantities on the basis of lid f.o.b. s.i.

PAY-OUTS TO FARMERS

MORRINSVILLE DISTRICT FIGURES (From, Our Own Correspondent) MORRINSVILLE, Wednesday. Dairy farmers in the Morrinsville district will be gratified with the payouts made to suppliers this week. A feature of the returns is the line record of the Tatua (Tatuanui) Dairy Company. Together with its pay-out on the basis of Is 6d a lb butter-fat. a bonus of ?>d, amounting to £1,500, was paid. This is the fifth bonus paid to the suppliers since January, three being for this season’s supply, and brings the pay-out over the whole season up to Is 7d a lb. The Norfolk (Motumaoho) Company is also paying out a $d bonus, while a Id bonus on cheese, toltalling £1,434 10s, will bring the average pay-out of the Sunny Park (To Poi) Company up to Is 6d a lb for the season. The returns are as follow, those for the corresponding month in 1927 being given in parentheses; Morrinsvile. Pounds butter-fat, 62,510 (74,623.7); pay-out, Is 5d a lb (Is Id); distribution, £4,645 18s 7d (£4,012 0s 7d). Tatua (Tatuanui). —Pounds butterfat, 30,401 (44,820); pay-out, Is 6d a lb (Is 2d); distribution, £2,343 (£2,614). Norfolk (Motumaoho). —Pounds milk, 331,319 (471,549); test, 4.83 (4.62); but-ter-fat, 16,020.9 (21,807.); pay-out, Is 5d (Is); total distribution, £1,134 16s 5d (£1,090 7s). Sunny Park (Te Poi). —Cheese Pounds milk, 361,943 (239,919); average test, 4.49 (4.41); pounds butter-fat, 16,285.9 (10,490.8); pay-out, Is 6d (Is 2d); distribution, £1,221 9s (£6ll 18s). Butter: Pounds milk, nil (122,515); pounds butter-fat, nil (5,525.5); pounds cream, 19,669 (27,462); test, 40.23 (41.11); pay-out. Is 4d (Is Id); distribution, £522 (£BBB 9s 7d).

RECORD AT RANGITAIKI

WHAKATANE, Thursday. The Rangitaiki Dairy Company’s output is growing apace and another record has been established this season. The pay-out for May was £11,492 10s 3d at Is 3d a lb butter-fat first grade, compared with £8,981 16s for May. 1927, at the rate of Is 2&d a lb first grade. A total of 184,1601 bof butterfat was received last month compared with 146,8521 b for May of last year. The butter made last month totalled 100 tons compared with 78 tons for May. 1927. , A So far this season 1,565 tons of butter have been made at the factory compared with 1,390 tons for the whole of last season. It is expected that when the season ends this month a total of over 1,600 tons will have been produced.

TAURANGA PAYS 1/4

TAURANGA, Friday. Farming in Tauranga district is having a successful run this winter. Feed is in abundance, with a continued good growth. The only trouble the farmers seem to have is the difficulty in drying off their cows. The pay-out at the factory this month was £3,629, being Is 4d a lb butter-fat.
