£3OO DAFFODIL

SEVEN-INCH BLOOMS AT LONDON SHOW

A daffodil bulb has been sold at Spalding for £3OO, according to an expert at the spring show of daffodils and narcissi, held at the Royal Horticultural Hall, Vincent Square. “We think nothing of giving £SO for a good daffodil,” the expert added. It is estimated that 30 years ago there were only 500 varieties of these spring flowers. To-day growers are raising between 2,000 and 3,000 different varieties every year. Flowers measuring six or seven inches across were shown.
