high prices for jerseys Dairymen were present from all parts of the North Island at a dispersal sale of Mr. C. E. Yelchich’s “Velebit” pedigree Jerseys held on Thursday. Competition was keen throughout. Bidding went to 300gns for the five-year-old cow Keston Flower (c.0.r., 8141 b of butter-fat as a four-year-old), but this animal was passed in. The four-year-old cow Marie Rohia Fancy (c.o.r. 6151 b butter-fat as a Junior two-year-old), was passed in at 90gr.s. The remaining 19 cows offered realised from 14gns to 35gns. from 1 Tigris to 45gns. A heifer calf from Keston Flower realised the top price of the sale, 60gns. Other heifer calves brought from 7gns to 31gns. A three-year-old bull sold at 37gns, a two-year-old bull at 20gns, and bull calves at from 12gns to 35gns. Mr. Yelchich’s pedigree Berkshire and large white pigs were also offered. Sows in pig realised 4gns to 6gns, young sows 2gns to sgns, and boars 2gns to 4gns. Messrs. Alfred Buckland\and Sons were the auctioneers.
