A YELLOW GOWN FOR A BRIDE
McGREGOR—PALETHORPE
A decidedly original colour note was chosen for her pretty bridal toilette last evening by Miss Edytli Lowrie (Bunty) Palethorpe, who was married in St. Luke’s Church, Remuera Road, to Douglas Dunedin Nithsdale McGregor, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas McGregor, of Arney Crescent, Auckland. The bride, who is the only daughter of- Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Palethorpe, of Briglitsido Road, Mount Eden, entered the church on the arm of her father. Her gown of mimosa yellow billowed in softly gathered flounces of tulle from the corsage of deeper toned ring velvet. Dipping toward the back, the hemline was of uneven length, and a distinctive finishing touch was a yellow velvet flower worn at the waist. Clusters of mimosa held in place the veil of soft primrose tulle which fell in graceful folds to form a train. A bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums with gold tinsel streamers completed the bride’s extremely chic toilette. Two maids attended her, Miss Audrey Higginson and Miss Maisie McGregor. Miss Higginson’s gown was of shell pink georgette with a large taffeta butterfly bow to one side. Miss McGregor’s frock of eau de nil georgette was similarly made, and both bridesmaids wore tulle head-dresses encircled with silver leaves. Their shower bouquets of pale pink flowers had long streamer ends of shell pink and eau de nil ribbons. The Rev. Thomson performed the ceremony, and Mr. Terry Shaw was best man, and Mr. Miles Masfern groomsman. The girl friends of the bride had decorated the church beautifully with yellow flowers and trails of asparagus fern and an effective wedding bell had
been made of yellow daisies. After the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents, where Mrs. Palethorpe received the guests. Mrs. Palethorpe’s gown was a cinnamon georgette model with roulet embroidery and touches of gold threadwork inset in the waistline above the panelled skirt. Pier hat of fine black crinoline straw was trimmed with two russet coloured silk flowers, and a posy of autumn tinted flowers was carried. Mrs. McGregor wore amethyst satin, the embroidered skirt being veiled with silver lace. Her hat was of toning shades and she carried a Victorian posy of violets.
The bride’s “going away” ensemble was of canton jade, smartly banded with coloured felts. The flowertrimmed hat was of crushable velour of toning shade, and with the ensemble was. worn a Russian fox fur.
