COULD NOT GET DOCTOR
SMALL BOY’S DEATH Press Association. DUNEDIN. Friday. An inquiry into the circumstances ■ surrounding the death of Graeme William McDonald, aged three years who died yesterday at the home of his aunt, Mrs. Bain, 178 Macandrew Road, South Dunedin, was held at the Dunedin Hospital this afternoon. Mrs. Bain said the child cried on Wednesday night, complaining of internal pains. The child was sick and then became semi-conscious. A doctor was summoned immediately, but he did not arrive. In the meanwhile every attention was given to the sufferer, and at midnight Mrs. Bain went for the same doctor, but could not get in touch with him until 6 a.m. yesterday. The doctor arrived at 6.45 a.m., shortly after the boy had expired. The child had always been healthy. Dr. D’Ath, pathologist at the hospital, who performed a post-mortem examination, said he found the body to be well nourished. He considered death was due to strangulation of a portion of the bowel. The coroner returned a verdict in accordance with the medical evidence, no blame being attachable to Mrs. Bain.
