FOX WILL MAKE BRITISH PICTURES
QUOTA REQUIREMENTS The “Daily Mail” announces that Mr. A. E. Bundy, chairman of British Instructional Films, Ltd., has made arrangements to produce films in England to meet the quota requirements of Fox Films. Under the terms of the Films Act it is incumbent on all American firms trading in Great Britain to market or offer for renting a proportion of British films with their own product. Up to now, very few American firms had arranged for this contingency. Despite long agitation to introduce measures to stimulate the production and exhibition of British films in Great Britain, the majority of American firms refused to believe that any steps would be actually taken to bring this about. It is estimated that the Fox organisation will requiifour British films in 1928-29, and eight for the following year to meet the quota. The production of British motion pictures to meet the requirements of an American firm trading in Great Britain will increase employment in the studios, and will keep a large sum of money in the country.
