RAILWAY GUARDS WANT NEW UNION
VOTING IN AUCKLAND •NOT GETTING FAIR DEAL” A movement is on foot among certain railway employees to form a Train-running Union. This will be a separate branch of the A.S.R.S. if the movement reaches finality. YV'E are not getting a lair deal. ' was the answer a railway othcial gave to an inquiry as to why a start, had been made to form the new union. On April 14 the Aucklaud District Guards Club held a ballot among its members on the following motion “That a ballot be taken of all guards in the Dominion as to the advisability of forming a Train-running Union.” The voting, which resulted in a majority of 120 in favour of the formation of a union, was as follows: Papers issued 4f*l Papers returned 31.*.
