ORPHANS’ CLUB HAS GOOD ASSETS
ANNUAL MEETING HELD At the annual meeting of the Auckland Orphans’ Club on Saturday evening, the balance-sheet disclosed assets amounting to £753. There were no liabilities, and the cash in the bank amounted to £SSS. Mr. J. B. Johnston, vice-president, took the chair, in the absence of Mr. W. Wallace. The report and balance-sheet showed a club na»mbersliip of 710. Regret was expressed at the deaths of Messrs. C. F. Mark, P. Rose, E. Stott, T. E. Midgley, All Asbury. J. Drummond and G. Walker. Appreciative references were made f o the orchestra and the outgoing off.*-»Drs, to whom thanks were recorded for their services. The election of officers resulted 113 follows:—Patron, the Governor-Gene-ral, Sir Charles Fergusson president, Mr. J. B. Johnston vice-presidents. Dr. C. E. Maguire, Professor A. C. Paterson, Messrs. J. Stanton, G. P. Finlay. E. Casey, G. W. Hutchison. V. R. Meredith and C. M. Croft committee, Messrs E. Wintlirop, W. J. Lovett, J. P. Howden. J. Robinson, D. Mclnness, and W. Peggs; secretary, Mr. J. 1». Crawford; treasurer, Mr. D. W. Dunlop:- auditors, Messrs. W. T. Brown and E. D. Elliott: conductor of orchestra, Mr. G. F. Cater; leader of orchestra. Mr. H. Sommerville; librarian, Mr. W. D’Authreau; honorary pianists. Messrs Cyril Towsev. T. Sparling and W. H Worsley.
