RAILWAY EXTENSION OPENED BY MINISTER

CEREMONY IN OTAGO j Press Association. DUNEDIN, To-day. The new railway extension l'rom Miller’s Flat to Roxburgh was opened by the Hon. F. J. Rolleston, Minister of Defence, yesterday, before a large attendance from the surrounding district, which included 500 people who accompanied the Ministerial train from Dunedin. It is 23 years since the line began to creep west from Lawrence, and the total cost has been £550,000. The completion to Roxburgh gives the fruitgrowers uninterrupted communication with all the South Island markets. Mr. Rolleston left for Wellington this morning.
