Scarlet Poppies—for Remembrance!
“A poppy, sir, for remembrance.’" Who could resist the appeal o* the scarlet poppy from Flanders field? Aucklanders to-day h-ad an op-po-tunity of paying homage—in coin—to the memory of the men who came back and are still war's casualties. On Wednesdav Anzac Day, they will pay homage to the men who did not came back. Every poppy sold meant work for some returned soldier. That was the knowledge- that animated the willing workers. led by the Mayoress. Mrs. A. D. Campbell, who from morning till night, trod the streets with baskets of Flanders blooms, and repeated the invitation, “A poppy, sir, for remembrance?"
