GALE STRIKES GALE
PARTED FROM TUG TOW-LINE FOULED Press A ssocia i ion. WANGANUI. Today. The steamer Gale which had its propeller stripped on Wednesdaj when entering harbour, left Wanganui at 10.15 this morning in tow by the tug Terawhiti, bound for Wellington. An hour later the vessels drifted apart, the towline having presumably fouled the tug’s propeller. Strong north-westerly wind was blowing and a fairly big sea was running. The gale drifted rapidly to leeward. After an hour’s delay the tug again approached the steamer, but at 1.30 p.m. had not succeeded in getting hooked on again.
