Fort Bastion at one time was a nr of the defence system of Auckland bt; it has not been used since the wait was dismantled last year and tht removal of the cable constituted os. of the last works in the demolitioc of the fort. A punt fitted with pulleys at tie bow was used for raising the cabk. An end was picked up at Fort Cantley and the cable was hauled over tbpulleys as the punt was drawn actw, the harbour.
