NEW MAIN HIGHWAYS

SEVERAL ROADS DECLARED Several of the main thoroughfares in the Northcote Borough have been declared main highways in the Gazette. These include the whole of Northcote Road in the borough, including Queen Street and Lake Road, for a distance of 3 miles 40 chains from Northcote Wharf to the northern boundary of Takapuna, thence through the Waitemata County territory to the boundary of Takapuna Borough, for a distance of 20 chains, and Onewa Fwoad from the war memorial in Northcote for approximately 50 chains, continuing through the Birkenhead Riding of the Waitemata County for about 20 chains, thence through Birkenhead for another 25 chains, to the corner of Glenfield Road. The main thoroughfare of Northcote, from the wharf to the Takapuna Borough in the north, and from the wharf to the junction at Birkenhead with the Auckland-Wainui main highway on the west, are now part of the highways for through traffic to the eastern and northern main highways. The principal streets through Birkenhead Borough, those from the wharf along Hinemoa, Hauraki and Glenfield Streets to the northern boundary of Pupuke Road, have already been declared main highways.
