TRAIN MISHAPS
DERAILMENT AT SWANSON INTERRUPTED SERVICE The derailment of a rai'way carriage at Swanson yesterday morning temporarily blocked the main line to Helensville, and held up traffic for a time. The carriage was standing in the station yard, and was knocked off the line during shunting operations. It tipped sideways toward another set of rails. Traffic was not seriously interfered with, as the mishap did not occur until 10.40 a.m., after the first train to Helensville had passed through. The down train from Helensville was held up, and a relief train was sent out from Auckland to bring the passengers into the city. A repair gang soon had the derailed car back on the lines. The cur was not damaged. EXPRESS HELD UP MISHAP AT FRANKTON JUNCTION An engine which was derailed at Frankton Junction on Saturday afternoon delayed the Thames express for over an hour, and consequently it was late in reaching Auckland. The engine ran over the points at the north end of the Frankton Junction yard, and traffic -v*as disorganised for some time. The mixed goods train which 7eaves Frankton Junction at 2.30 o’clock was also held up. The Thames express, which is timed to leave for Auckland at 1.40 o’clock, did not leave until nearly three o’clock.
