AGRICULTURAL INSTRUCTION At the Napier tennis tournament, Miss Dora Evans, of the Te Kuiti Tennis Club, was successful .together with Miss McPherson, in winning women's handicap doubles, and in being runnerup in the women’s handicap singles. * * • Mr. J. W. Woodcock, N.D.A, wil! take over the southern part of the King Country from Mr. J. Jenks, instructor in agriculture, at Te Kuiti, thus relieving Mr. Jenks of a portion of the large district under his charge. Mr. Woodcock will be agriculture instructor for Taumarunui, Ohura and Kaitieke, with headquarters at Taumarunui, and will take up his new dutifs at the end of February. For the past three years Mr. Woodcock has be«n assisting Mr. H. T. Patterson, instructor for the Auckland Province, in experimental work. * * * As an indication of the splendid fattening possibilities of the King Country, the first season’s draft of 1,551 lambs from Whataroa estate, which was railed to Waingawa, averaged 34*lb. In the Te Kuiti Magistrate’s Court on Friday, a native named Tame Ng»rongo was charged with being drun* while in charge of a motor vehicle. To* police stated that defendant was being “sponged” upon by sly-grog sellers, owing to his having had a sum 01 money left him.
