The death is reported of William Carey, a member of the New South Wales Legislative Council, and a stalwart supporter of the Labour movement, at the age of 44.—A. and N.Z. The late Mr. Carey was born in Sydney in 1883. He became general secretary of the Australian Labour Party in 1904 and was most active in advocating improved industrial conditions.
